7 Popular Paddles with the Most Spin, Based on RPM

The meta has shifted from smashing the ball at every opportunity to shaping it to our will. These are the paddles that do it best.

Without a doubt, 2025 was the year of the power paddle. But the meta has shifted. From pros down to rec-play, more value is being placed on control, finesse, and touch.

We used to want to smash the ball all across the court. Now we want to shape it.

More than ever, spin is king. It's why you're seeing so many brands coming out with their version of longer-lasting grit technology. But a paddle's ability to generate RPMs goes far beyond the surface; it runs core-deep.

And testing a paddle's spin rate is no different.

The team at Kansas City-based JustPaddles understands this better than anyone.

That's why they created the Paddle Lab, a proprietary, in-house testing system designed to bring objective, measurable performance data into a space long dominated by opinion and conjecture.

The Paddle Buying Problem No One Could Solve, Until Now

How one Kansas City company used decades of baseball product experience to solve one of pickleball’s most enduring problems: translating paddle jargon into measurable performance data

The Dink PickleballAlex E. Weaver

Their database contains about 500 of the game's best paddles, and they're adding to it every day, rigorously testing metrics like power, spin and consistency.

Using that data, we've compiled a list of the seven popular paddles that generate the most RPM. Brands big and small are represented, with prices ranging from around $150 to more than $300.

Some of these (like the Boomstik and Q2) are elite-level power paddles. Others (like the J2CR and Zone) offer more balance and control.

All of them fit pickleball's new meta perfectly: plenty of power when you need it, but with access to max spin to shape the ball where you want it.

If it's top-tier spin you're after, this is it:

  1. CRNB3 TruFoam Waves (1,588 RPM)
  2. Honolulu J2CR Crystal Blue (1,577 RPM)
  3. Selkirk Boomstik (1,552 RPM)
  4. RPM Q2 (1,530 RPM)
  5. Six Zero Ruby Pro (1,515 RPM)
  6. Holbrook Zone (1,514 RPM)
  7. Franklin C45 Aurelius 14mm (1,471 RPM)

How This List Was Generated

The Paddle Lab puts every paddle through a series of six tests to map its performance attributes across a range of factors: Exit velocity (power), swing weight, spin rate, twist weight, balance point, and consistency.

For this list, they pulled the paddles that rank highest across one key metric: Spin rate.

  • Spin rate is measured in rotations per minute (RPMs), demonstrating how much spin a paddle fixed at an angle generates on the ball traveling at 60 miles per hour

One critical point of emphasis here: the Paddle Lab's RPM results may look lower than other reviewers'. That's by design.

Their testing protocols are designed to take the human element out of the equation, while still mimicking in-game play.

  • They fire a ball cannon at 60 mph at a paddle fixed at a 45-degree angle
  • Then a high-speed camera captures the ball trajectory to calculate the RPMS of the ball coming off the paddle

"If you fire the ball at a different speed, a different angle, or introduce movement into the test," explains Paddle Labs' Jason Schulz, "spin results can vary and certainly come out at higher numbers than what our test will show."

In this way, their data shows what the paddle can generate on its own accord without manipulation.
