The second annual Collegiate Individual National Championship is coming up on June 1-2, the most prestigious individual tournament in collegiate pickleball, with $20,000 up for grabs across the Men’s/Women’s Doubles, Men’s/Women’s Singles, and Mixed Doubles brackets.

Below are some of the key storylines for the tournament, as well as the players and teams to watch for.

  • In last year’s tournament, Collin Shick (UNC) achieved the triple crown, winning Mixed Doubles, Men’s Singles, and Men’s Doubles. Dylan Ciampini (Utah Tech) won the remaining two events – Women’s Doubles and Singles – earning a double crown for herself. Both Collin and Dylan will be absent from this year’s CINC, leaving the door wide open for new champions.

  • There are quite a few returning players looking to improve their performance from last year. Both Logan Rosenbach (Utah Tech) and David Bieger (UVA) couldn’t escape quarterfinals in Men’s Singles last year, but they’ve improved a lot in the past year and are expected to go further.
  • On the men’s side, Jack Munro (Texas) and Jack Foster (Florida) are the two players to watch. With 6.0+ DUPRs, it’s likely they will meet in the championship. On the women’s side, look for Ava Ignatowich (Miami) and Mehvish Safdar (Indiana) to perform well in both singles and doubles. Alexandra McDonald and Lauralei Singsank – from Virginia, the reigning Team Champions – are also favored to make deep runs.

All group play games will be rally scoring. The playoffs will be 2-of-3, with the third game being 11 points. Mixed Doubles will be on Saturday morning (June 1st), Singles will be Saturday afternoon, and Gendered Doubles will be Sunday (June 2nd) morning.

The semifinals and finals for each event will be Sunday afternoon, with the finals for each being live streamed on DUPR’s YouTube channel and put on local NBC and CBS channels afterwards. CINC will be the second event with line cameras for its streamed matches after the technology was debuted in college at DUPR’s Georgia Super Regional.
