The Volair March 2 review is here: https://youtu.be/HQJRzGpWlzk Hey guys, today I'm going to provide a comparison and my initial thoughts on the new Volair Forza Control 2 and Control 1. The Mach Forzas have been very popular this last year. The Mach 2 Forza was a very good paddle: it was stable with plenty of power for the shape and had really good spin. This will be a short review because most of the specs are the same, so I'll highlight the differences for you. If you want to see my original reviews, they're in the description below. The Forza paddles feature the same shape and a 5.5" handle and are available only in the 16mm variant with an aramid fiber surface. These specs are nearly the same as last year's model, but with less swing weight, less spin, more pop, and more control than their predecessors. The new Control Forza 2 costs $199, a $20 increase from the Mach 2 Forza. Using the code PIRATES, you can bring that down to $180. Aside from the price, the specs are nearly identical. Now, I'll say this: the new paddles feel a touch faster in the hand, and it feels like you can get more pop on them as well. That may be because these are newer and because of the full aramid fiber, which is different from carbon fiber. Aramid fiber is a new term we haven't used before. Here's the difference: aramid fiber is more flexible, impact-resistant, and heat- and flame-resistant, so a hot car won't affect this paddle as much. And hey, you can even put out a fire with it! Technically, Kevlar is the brand name for aramid fiber. It's the exact same material as Kevlar, but it's not Kevlar's trademarked color; it's called the technical name, which is aramid fiber. So, what does that mean? Well, it means that potentially we have a bit more pop once it's broken in because of the flexibility of the fiber. Also, flexibility gives you a softer feel and increased control, as it absorbs shock better. These are the exact characteristics I noticed with this paddle when I played with it. Kevlar is also supposedly more durable by material type, but we're going to have to wait until we get more mileage on the paddles before we can confirm that. When I played with this paddle, I remembered how much I liked it and how much I liked the Forza models. And let's face it: the colorways are different. The Controls are available in blue and green now. They look cool, but the green might raise some eyebrows if you're playing with neon balls. I don't think people could make a strong argument that it's distracting, as it's not that similar to the ball color. But hey, maybe they'll just need an excuse after you beat them! In testing, these paddles hit about 1,800-1,900 RPMs, which is less than last year's models that hit over 2,000 RPM. I loved the Mach 2 Forza, even though it wasn't my favorite shape. It was one of the best control paddles out there, offering excellent spin, a large sweet spot, fast handling, and reliability for resets. It's still at the top of the charts for control and stability metrics. These new paddles offer even more control and feel a little poppier in hand. That could be because they have a lighter swing weight, so you can move them a little faster. I could tell the difference when playing with them side by side. The Kevlar fiber is supposed to make them last longer, but like I said, we won't know until we get more mileage on them. If you don't need any help from the paddle for power and you like the new colors, these paddles are worth the extra $20 for the colorways, durability, and extra pop compared to their predecessors. To clarify: power refers to full swings, drives, and serves, while pop refers to counter-punches and fast volleys out of the air. These paddles have less power and spin but more pop than the previous versions. Just to let you know, Volair sent me these paddles for free, but I wasn't paid for this review, and I didn't promise them a review. This is my opinion. I've reviewed over 150 paddles and played with more than 300 models, basing my reviews on my experience, feel, and side-by-side comparisons. I use spin metrics from independent testers for the numbers I provide. I also have an affiliate link and a discount code in the description below, which helps support the channel if you decide to purchase through us. Thanks to those of you using our code, and thanks to Volair for sending us these paddles! If you'd like to see my original review of these paddles, check the description below.
