I Faced Two of Pickleball’s Rising Stars I Match Footage

APP Sacramento did not disappoint—and this match was another reminder of just how deep the talent is out there. Will and I went up against two rising stars, Clayton Powell and Aidan Schenk, in what turned out to be one of our toughest battles of the tournament. These guys are the real deal. They played with confidence, pace, and precision—and went on to earn bronze, which tells you everything you need to know. Huge respect to them. They’re going to do some serious damage in pro pickleball. Thankfully, we managed to edge this one out, but it was a grind the whole way through. The energy in Sacramento was electric all weekend, and the level of play across the board made it one of my favorite APP events so far. Clayton Powell and Aidan Schenk came into this tournament on a mission, and they delivered. From their fast-paced attacks to their smart positioning, they made us work for every point. They had moments of total control in this match, and it took a lot of mental and physical discipline from us to stay in it and close things out. Beyond this match, the whole event had such a high-level feel—great crowds, smooth organization, and just an overall great vibe to compete in. It's one of those tournaments that reminds you how far the game has come and how exciting the future looks with young talents like Clayton and Aidan coming up.
