Innovation Over Monetization: Inside FLiK's Quietly Disruptive Paddle Philosophy

The F3's unique triple-core design delivers a rare blend of pop, control, and consistency – all for a price that genuinely seems too good to be true

If you've spent any time obsessing over pickleball paddle launches this year, you've probably heard about the latest six-figure marketing campaigns, celebrity endorsements, and premium paddles pushing well north of $250.

What you may not have heard about is FLiK.

Which, if you ask their founder Fred Robinson, is partly their own fault.

"We are not perfect marketers," Robinson admits. "But we are trying to build the best equipment possible for athletes."

That philosophy is exactly what makes the new FLiK F3 so compelling.

Many pickleball brands promise the world with each new paddle release. But the F3 truly is the rare paddle that delivers a dependable blend of pop, control, and consistency.

Any paddle that comes close also comes with a big-ticket price tag.

So why is FLiK practically giving the F3 away for just $126?

An Innovator Hiding in Plain Sight

The irony is that many players may have already experienced technology inspired by FLiK without realizing it.

Released in January, the F3 introduced what FLiK calls a "triple core" design: a primary foam core suspended inside two complementary foam rings of varying densities. That's a "double floating core" for anyone keeping track at home.

The goal wasn't to create more hype. It was to solve a problem.

"When you move away from the center of the paddle, performance typically drops off dramatically," Robinson explains.

"We wanted to create a paddle that maintained a more consistent response across the face."

The result is one of the most forgiving full-foam paddles on the market.

  • The center high-density EPP core is built for stabilization
  • The mid-density EPP ring delivers energy transfer and vibration control
  • The outer low-density EVA ring maximizes forgiveness

Even more notable: similar floating-core concepts are already beginning to appear throughout the industry (including a couple marquee paddles from major brands), validating FLiK's original proof-of-concept that the design improves feel, expands the sweet spot, and creates a more predictable hitting experience across the entire face.

"If you get the paddle on the ball, you get a very reasonable, predictable shot," says Robinson. "You just don't get many dud balls."

The Return of the All-Court Paddle

For the last few years, the paddle market has been obsessed with raw power.

"Power paddles were the trend. Every company was competing to have the most powerful paddle and they sold that idea well to the consumers," says Justin Barton, a pickleball consultant who worked with FLiK on the F3.

"But after a year of everyone playing with bazookas, it's become apparent to most players that winning in pickleball is placement over power, so a lot of players who value winning are moving back to all-court paddles and enjoying the results."

As players improve and the sport matures, many are rediscovering the value and joy of balance.

That's where the F3 shines.

The paddle is available in three shapes – elongated, hybrid, and widebody – with each offering enough pop to finish points while maintaining the touch, control, and consistency that advanced players need to construct them.

"The all-court paddle is actually allowing people to keep the ball in play longer," Robinson says.

"You can still hit hard, but you have the control when you need it."

The numbers back it up.

Independent testing has measured the F3 above 2,100 RPMs of spin, putting it firmly in the conversation with many of today's top-performing paddles. It's not relying on any new experimental surface grits, either – that next-level RPM-generation runs core-deep.

But spin isn't the whole story.

The F3's forgiving sweet spot, linear power profile, and connected feel make it one of the rare paddles that seems to elevate nearly every part of a player's game rather than over-indexing on a single metric.

And as for that deeply satisfying thonky sound?

That's a byproduct of "controlled energy flow," as Robinson puts it, or the F3's elite ability to harness "high-frequency vibration leakage" and return more of that all-important energy back into the ball.

Innovation Over Monetization

Perhaps the most interesting thing about FLiK isn't the paddle itself.

It's the company's approach to research and development.

While many brands focus on chasing trends, Robinson says FLiK's mission is to create genuinely useful innovations—even when they're difficult, expensive, or unlikely to generate immediate sales or brand awareness.

The FLiK F1, The Most Powerful Paddle You’ve Never Heard Of

The FLiK F1 is an unabashed power paddle that beats the competition on a variety of levels: performance, durability, and price. You just didn’t know it existed. Until now.

"We are true innovators in the sport of pickleball," Robinson says.

"We want FLiK to be the company that's known for breaking new ground in performance, durability and value. And always, always putting the athlete first through the entire process."

That mindset has earned the company a reputation for experimenting with technologies and materials long before they become industry trends.

Like their F1 power paddle, which is easily the most powerful paddle on the market you've likely never heard of.

"Some companies are geared more toward monetization—what is going to sell right now," Robinson says. "We want to make products that are really good for the sport."

At the center of that philosophy is a simple belief: athletes come first. Always.

The Verdict

The paddle market is crowded with good options.

Very few are truly different.

The FLiK F3 is.

It combines a genuinely innovative core design, excellent all-court performance, strong spin generation, impressive forgiveness, and premium construction at a price that feels almost out of place in today's market.

If you're shopping for a full-foam paddle and willing to look beyond the brands spending big on marketing, the F3 deserves a spot at the top of your list.

At $126, it might be the easiest paddle recommendation in pickleball right now.
