Registered Amateur Play Event in San Diego Expected to be Largest in MLP History
Major League Pickleball (MLP presented by DoorDash) today announced details around the 2025 MLP Playoffs, which will be held over two weeks in August at Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, CA, Friday, Aug. 15-Sunday, Aug. 17, and culminating with the Finals at CityPickle at Wollman Rink in New York, NY, Friday, Aug. 22-Sunday, Aug. 24.
The champions will have earned the most difficult trophy to win in the sport – following a collection of 25 regular season matches and multiple high-level rounds of playoffs against the best coed, professional pickleball teams in the world!
The playoffs will follow the league’s 10-event 2025 regular season and showcase the top 10 Premier Level teams by regular season standings points and all six Challenger Level teams competing at their respective level, beginning with the First and Second Rounds in San Diego. The highest seed(s) in each round will choose their opponent at both levels.

The 2025 MLP Premier Playoffs will begin with the First Round on Friday, Aug. 15:
- Seeds No. 7-10 will play a single-elimination match against one opponent
- The winning teams will advance to the Second Round
The Premier Level Second Round will feature seeds No. 1-6 and First Round winners:
- Qualifying teams will play a best-of-three match series through Sunday, Aug. 17
- The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds will begin their respective series on Friday, Aug. 15
- The No. 3 and No. 4 seeds will be in action starting on Saturday, Aug. 16
- The four series-winning teams will advance to the Premier Level Semifinals in New York City
The 2025 MLP Challenger Playoffs will get underway with the First Round and Semifinals in San Diego:
- In the First Round, seeds No. 3-6 will play a single-elimination match on Friday, Aug. 15
- The First Round-winning teams – and No. 1 and No. 2 seeds – will advance to the Challenger Level Semifinals
- The Semifinals will be best-of-three match series on Friday, Aug. 15, and Saturday, Aug. 16
- The winning teams will earn a spot in the Challenger Level Finals in New York City
In addition to the thrilling, high-stakes pro pickleball playoff action, there will be an amateur tournament for pickleball enthusiasts which is expected to be the largest in MLP history. Registration is now open via Pickleball Brackets.

The 2025 MLP season will culminate with champions being crowned at each level at Wollman Rink in New York City’s famed Central Park.
The Premier Level Semifinals will showcase the Second Round winners from San Diego:
- Semis are a best-of-three match series on Friday, Aug. 22, and Saturday, Aug. 23* (if nec.)
- The winners will advance to play for the 2025 Premier Level Championship
The Premier Level Finals will also be a best-of-three match series on Saturday, Aug. 23, and Sunday, Aug. 24.
The Challenger Level Finals – a best-of-three match series between the two Challenger Level Semifinals winners from San Diego – will also be played on Saturday, Aug. 23, and Sunday, Aug. 24.
