Think about where your paddle finishes after you hit the ball. I want my paddle to finish above the net. That’s it. It’s a simple visual, but it’s incredibly effective.
If your paddle finishes below the net, especially on a volley, there’s a really good chance that ball is going straight into the net. It’s not just about contact point—it’s about where the motion finishes.
Even when you’re dealing with a low ball, I want you to keep the same idea in mind. Low to high motion. My paddle still needs to finish over the net. That upward finish not only gives the ball a better chance of clearing the net, it also puts your paddle in a good spot for the next shot. You’re not recovering from a low position—you’re already up and ready.
So remember: paddle finishes above the net, ball likely follows. It’s that simple.
