The Fort, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, hosted the APP Tour Championships this past weekend - wrapping up the 2025 APP Tour season.

As the last event of the season, this one meant a bit more, as it was also the last Major of the year, with prize payouts worth 1.5x the tour’s open level events.

Let’s get into the action.

Top Storylines

Will Howells Earned Two Gold Medals - One in Mixed and One in Men’s Doubles

Howells left the 2025 APP Tour season with a bang. He won mixed doubles gold with Bobbi Oshiro and men’s doubles with Jack Munro.

In mixed doubles, Oshiro and Howells dominated the competition, only losing one game in their five matches. That loss came in the semis against Ronan Camron and Kat Stewart, who won game one 13-11. From there, Howells and Oshiro won games two and three, 11-4, 11-7.

In the finals, Oshiro and Howells took on Sofia Sewing and Casey Diamond, who had upset Megan Fudge and Jack Munro in the semis. They beat Fudge and Munro 11-1, 11-6.

However, Howells and Oshiro were too much on Sunday, beating Diamond and Sewing 11-6, 11-8 in the finals.

In men’s it was more of the same, with Howells and Munro only losing one game in their five matches. That game was in the quarterfinals, when Brandon Fritze and Jordan Chrysostom beat Howells and Munro 11-5 in the first game. Then Howells and Munro went on a 22-8 run, winning the quarters in three.

In the finals, Howells and Munro took on Tanner Tomassi and Richard Livornese Jr., beating them 11-6, 11-7. This marked the eighth gold medal for the duo on the APP Tour in 2025, tying them for the single season record.

“It’s been an absolute blast playing with Jack this year,” Howells said. “We have great chemistry, we’re good friends off the court, so it really means a lot to us.”

Sofia Sewing and Shelby Bates Earned their Second Gold Together

For the second time in 2025, Bates and Sewing earned gold in women’s doubles. They did so by beating Christine Maddox and Simone Jardim in the semis, 7-11, 11-2, 11-5.

In the finals, they faced off against the best duo in women’s doubles all year, Megan Fudge and Jill Braverman. This was a hard fought match on both sides, with momentum shifting many times.

Sewing and Bates won 11-5, and then lost game two 8-11. In game three, they were down 2-5, and called timeout, hoping to stop momentum and not go into the side switch down 6-2. That is exactly what they did after the timeout. Bates and Sewing rattled off 9 unanswered points, winning game three 11-5.

Seone Mendez and Ryler DeHeart Each Earned Their First Gold Medals in Singles

Seone Mendez has made a name for herself in the latter part of 2025, and she finished the year off with an exclamation. In the Round of 16 Mendez upset Sewing, the #1 seed, 15-11 in the third. In the finals, she beat Kat Stewart, 15-10, 16-14, earning her first gold on the APP Tour on Saturday.

In men’s singles, Rtler DeHeart won his first ever singles title on the APP Tour at the age of 41. DeHeart beat Dusty Boyer in a grinding singles match, 16-14, 16-14.
