The term "Made in USA" is a loaded one–by the letter of the law, labeling a product as such means its final assembly occurred in the United States and "all or virtually all ingredients or components of the product are made and sourced in the United States."

It's rarified air, an intentionally high standard because of the prestige – and premium price tag – so often associated with products that tout a purely American provenance.

When it comes to pickleball paddles, there aren't many that are fully made in America – that is, all of their material components, from the raw carbon fiber to the polymer cores, are sourced from one of the 50 states.

But there's a small group of brands whose paddles are made in America, and who source many materials domestically as well.

We searched high and low to compile a comprehensive list; here's what we found:

  1. Avoura – Made in Encinitas, California
  2. Engage – Made in Oxford, Florida
  3. Paddletek – Made in Niles, Michigan
  4. Players Pickleball – Made in Ferndale, Washington
  5. Revolin – Made in Holland, Michigan
  6. Selkirk – Select models made in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

A handful of these brands make some or all of their paddles domestically, but source an indeterminate percentage of materials from overseas.

These include Engage, Vulcan (the V700 Series) and Whisper.

The 'Made in USA' Difference

The rest of the brands on the list take it to the next level, making all or most of their paddles in the US and/or sourcing the bulk of their components domestically.

Avoura – Encinitas, CA

Avoura was founded by a notable pickleball family, the Dawsons: Jennifer is a hall-of-famer with 20 US Open and National titles; Steve is a three-time U.S. Open and Canadian National Champion; and their son Callan is an active pro.

All the materials for their paddles are sourced in the U.S. with the exception of the edge guard.

Paddletek – Niles, MI

Paddletek has manufactures more than one million paddles in America since 2010, sourcing materials domestically to ensure every component is made from the highest quality materials available.

"We make our product in the USA because the quality of materials are better, we can better control the quality, and we can maximize the performance of our paddles," Paddletek President, Curtis Smith, told me.

Supporting American jobs is also a core tenant of their mission.

"This sport has uplifted not only players but also the hardworking people behind the scenes who build our high-performance paddles right here in Michigan," Smith adds. "That’s something we take great pride in."

Players – Ferndale, WA

Players builds and ships its paddles from their shop in Ferndale, Washington.

They source as many materials as possible from domestic suppliers and partner with local companies for steps in the process that require larger equipment.

"We're a small company so when you reach out to us, you're talking to the same people who build the paddles, the same people who designed them, the same people who know them inside and out and have the callouses to prove it!" they told me.

Prior to launching their own brand in 2018, they worked as a contract manufacturer for a couple of other paddles companies in the industry, so, they said, "we've made a lot of paddles over the years."

Revolin – Holland, MI

The vast majority Revolin paddles by weight are made from USA-sourced raw materials and components, with most of this processing and manufacturing occurring in Michigan. These paddles are assembled, quality checked, and shipped out of our facilities in Holland, Michigan.

An interesting note here: Some of these paddles contain "a single layer of sturdy volcanic fiber."

"The raw volcanic rock fiber we have sourced is not made in the USA (unfortunately), and we can't disclose the exact location for proprietary reasons," the brand told me. "But, the processing and conversion of this raw material into our patent-pending LavaFLX™ composite material does happen in the USA."

This volcanic fiber is extremely lightweight, and makes up only a small (~%10) of the paddle by weight. The majority of the other materials in this paddle are USA-sourced.

Selkirk – Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

Selkirk makes several models in America: VANGUARD Control (all three models), Project 006 Tour, and AMPED Control (all three models).

In its Idaho facility, Selkirk performs a number of advanced manufacturing processes, including:

  • CNC routing: Precision cutting and shaping of the paddle.
  • Edgeguard application: Using USA-sourced adhesives to attach the edge guard for enhanced durability.
  • Infinigrit™ Surface: The application of their proprietary Infinigrit™ surface, which provides a long-lasting spin capability.
  • Build-up, end cap application, and grip application: Assembling the paddle's structure and applying the end cap and grip to complete a playable paddle.

Where Selkirk paddles are made: Understanding the difference between M

When shopping for a pickleball paddle, one thing you’ll quickly notice is the different terms used to describe where paddles are made: “Made in the USA,” “Assembled in the USA,” and “Designed in the USA.” At Selkirk Sport, these aren’t just labels — they carry important distinctions about how and where paddles are cra

Stafford – Collierville, TN

Stafford Pickleball is a family-owned business that's been designing and manufacturing high-quality paddles in the US for over a decade.

In addition to their own line of paddles, Stafford currently has contracts to do research and development, paddle blank improvement, or total manufacturing for a number of well-known brands, all out of their state-of-the-art facility in Tennessee.

Thompson – Boyne City, MI

Thompson builds their paddles entirely in-house from the ground up in Boyne City, Michigan. Every paddle is molded individually (not cut from large pre-made sheets), giving them complete control over quality and performance.

They manufacture their paddles using nearly 100% American-made components, including carbon fiber from Alabama, polypropylene honeycomb from Michigan, and butt caps 3D printed in-house.

Unlike many paddle startups, Thompson doesn't outsource or rent space. They own the factory, the equipment, and the process, giving them superior control over quality and innovation.

TMPR Paddles – Buchanan, Michigan

All of TMPR's Luxe and LT paddle lines are manufactured in their Michigan shop. With the exception of the grips, all of the paddle materials are sourced domestically as well.

Their newest paddle, the Nimbus, is the first they've offered that's made entirely in China.
