The Dink MiLP Florida State Championship: Dink Floyd, Kitchen Nightmares, and Hold My Pickle Punch Their Tickets

South Florida already has a claim on some of the best professional pickleball players in the country. After this weekend, you could make the case for the amateurs, too.

The Dink Minor League Pickleball Florida State Championship ran alongside stop No. 3 of the All Florida Pro League in Sunrise, and when the dust settled, every Dream Ticket winner was from South Florida.

On the pro side, the hometown Miami Blaze won the stop, a result that surprised a lot of people in the building.

An impressive 105 players competed across three DUPR divisions. Gold medal winners in each earned a Dream Ticket, an automatic bid to The Dink MiLP Championships in early 2027.

It’s worth noting: the Killer Bees went to a Dreambreaker in every single match they played in DUPR 16. They didn't make the podium, but they surely made everyone work for it.

But the best story of the weekend came out of DUPR 18.

Dink Floyd was a blind date team: free agents assembled by MiLP who had never played together before. They won the division in a Dreambreaker that went to overtime, and the final point was a contested out call against a team whose roster included three players under the age of 13.

Whatever your take on the call, the Dink Floyd players are heading to the MiLP Championships.
