The Senior Pro Tour’s 20224 schedule is well underway, and with a total of 18 nationwide tour stops, there’s sure to be an event near you at some point during the year.
Founder of The Senior Pro Tour, Mattias Johansson, says, “We are very grateful for the support we have from fellow senior pros, sponsors, RAQT, tournament directors, and club owners who all make this tour very special.
“We are also very excited to continue our partnership with National Pickleball (NP).”
Co-founder Dave Furman adds, “We will continue to strive to make every tour stop better than the previous stop.”
The tour will run in conjunction with its partnership with Foster Events Group, and Johansson says, “We are thrilled to partner with Foster Events Group for two well-established tournaments in Boca Raton and Delray Beach.”
Carl Foster, President/CEO of Foster Events Group, says, “We are excited about a new strategic partnership with The Senior Pro Tour.
“This partnership will increase exposure for Senior Pros and offer unprecedented tournament payouts. The best Senior Pro men and women will head to South Florida and compete as part of our two major annual pickleball tournaments”.
The 2024 Senior Pro Tour comes with many new upgrades and announcements. It will also offer amateur brackets and future senior pro divisions (age 45-49) at certain SPT events.
Senior pros must be 50+ with a 4.0+ ranking to be eligible, while the Super Seniors must be 60+. The “Futures” have to be aged 45 to 49 to be eligible.
The tour has already completed one tournament –in Boca Raton, Florida, at the end of January. Its next stop is at Tustin Hills, California, from February 9 to 11.
However, you’ll have to be quick, as registration closes at 11 p.m. this evening.
All teams/individuals are guaranteed two games in this double elimination with a come-around for the gold tournament.
There will be a minimum of four teams per bracket. If there are fewer, the SPT will combine players with other brackets based on their age and skill level.
The main draw matches will comprise a best-of-three game format, with each game going up to 11 and won by a margin of two points. Consolation games will consist of one game to 15 with a winning margin of two points. The bronze medal match will use the best-of-three game format. There will be two 60-second timeouts per game and player/team.
Please note this is a non-sanctioned tournament. Seeding for all senior pro brackets will use a 50% SPT ranking and a 50% DUPR rating.
Registration fees are $90. The senior, super senior, and future senior pro events each cost $120 plus a $15 referee fee. Amateur events are $70.
