The dirtiest paddle on the planet

Verdict
The Bread and Butter Filth paddle packs more power than you might expect. It’s a Generation 2 thermoformed paddle, which means it has a solid one-piece design with foam around the edges. When you hit a pickleball with it, the paddle feels soft and bends a bit. This bending helps to give the ball an extra push, making your shots more powerful. But, this can also make your shots less accurate and consistent. Despite this, the Filth is fun to play with and seems to get better as you use it more. And they have the best commercial for a paddle that I’ve ever seen.

First Look

The Bread and Butter Filth is the latest instalment from Bread and Butter pickleball. The Filth has Generation 2 thermoforming, a 16 mm high density polypropylene honeycomb core and a raw T-700 carbon fiber face. The Filth features cool 3D graphics UV printed directly onto the surface of the paddle distinguishing the filth from other paddles in its category.

Performance Review & My Experience

Consistency/Accuracy

The Bread and Butter Filth can be a touch inconsistent. There are occasional flyers, especially when getting to know the paddle. Dinks, drives, serves, returns and resets can be somewhat erratic. The Filth flexes and seems to “throw” the ball occasionally, leading to some unexpected results. Once you adjust to the Filth, however, the consistency and accuracy can be dialed in.

Power

The Bread and Butter Filth has power. Every shot off the Filth will have easy depth. Both serves and returns will land close to the baseline without difficulty. Push dinks, resetting and drives are also easily accomplished with the Filth.

Spin

This is yet another area where the Bread and Butter Filth really excels. There is easy access to top spin and back spin on all shots. There is an abundance of dwell time on the Filth. The ball seems to stay on the face to allow the T-700 carbon to grab the ball and spin it well.

Defense to Offense

The Bread and Butter Filth is easy to maneuver and quick to react. The paddle moves through the air rapidly at the net after reliable resets. There is no need to swing in the transitional area up to the non-volley zone as the ball will come off the Filth with ease.

Feedback/Feel

The feedback and feel is somewhat different from other Generation 2 thermoformed paddles, as most paddles of this kind are very solid & stiff. The Filth feels soft and has a flex when the face contacts the ball in the sweet spot. So the Filth will appeal to those who like a more plush feel.

Sweet Spot

The sweet spot on the Filth is large and easily accessible. Shots will be predictable and reliable from all areas except for the extreme distal areas of the paddle face. Shots from that are will not respond well at all and there will be vibration.

Looks/Design

The looks are above average with the fun 3D graphics UV printed directly onto the surface of the paddle. There are four design colors available. See here.

Additional Thoughts

The Bread & Butter Filth is a fun paddle with a nice upside. You will have to spend some time with this paddle to reap its benefits, but once you do you will probably be a Filth fan.
