My Coaching holiday experience in Türkiye

There have been lots of pickleball holidays advertised over the last year.  Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go on one?  Well Tara Creasey enjoyed her first so much, she went on a second.  Read about her experience here.

From the moment of booking I knew it would be good.

I’m in my first year of pickleball and bouncing from tournaments to rec to coaching while trying to consolidate learning into my matches. My first coaching camp was in Türkiye in June with Mr Lululemon, Rob Williams! It was a blast. So I was a little uncertain about going again with triple the students and triple the coaches. Worry not,  it was triple the fun which began at the airport meeting Mr Love again and his perma smile 😊

Wow 2 England players, Mollie Knaggs and Rich Love, and an England coach, Rob, formed our coaching team. What a privilege.

Day 1, landed and greeted by the wonderful PSO team Zuhal and Yusuf and processed swiftly into the luxury hotel, cocktails all round. OK so this is how it’s gonna be, let’s go!! Be warned, the hotel and staff are carefully chosen by PSO for the high standards of service, cleanliness, efficiency and quality of food, drink and choice. You will not be disappointed!

The November temperatures meant that we could sleep a little later,  yep,  a post cocktail lie in (as a side note , going in the height of summer is very different and the coaching sessions are adapted towards the cooler ends of the day).

Day 2 and then straight to it!

We benefited from the diverse coaching styles and student numbers, the days were well structured with large and small group coaching as well as individual on request. Morning and evening sessions were the norm.  Any issues with facilities were very quickly addressed by PSO who accompanied us for the full week. They were on duty 24/7!

The coaching gave something for everyone from the basics to the strategic to the tactical for singles and doubles play. All levels of players from beginners upwards were welcome. Ability levels were split from time to time. But we always got back together to enjoy fun socials and mini challengers!

Don’t take just my word for it,  you’ll make new friends and you’ll definitely see them again and again as the pickle family continues to grow. These holidays are a fantastic way to learn and relax in the gorgeous surroundings, very highly recommended!
