Years ago, a friend of mine during a coaching session said “Good things happen in the middle”. It took me a while to understand his statement as he was from Kansas, the middle of the country. I assumed he meant that in life, as much as in sports, middle of the road decisions were always safe and productive. Silly me. But I took on this statement as my mantra while I trekked across the world coaching the nuances of playing the middle.
