The volley is one of the most important and versatile shots in pickleball. In this video, we break down volley fundamentals so you can improve your control, reaction time, and ability to win points at the net. A volley is any shot hit out of the air before the ball bounces. These shots can be offensive or defensive, hard or soft, but if you’re making contact before it hits the ground, it’s a volley. Most volleys are hit just behind the kitchen line, where you’re in the best position to react and take advantage of higher balls. The most common type is the punch volley, a reliable shot you can use to defend against hard hits or attack when your opponent leaves the ball up. To execute a punch volley, keep your paddle up and in front of your body. As the ball comes toward you, use a short, controlled punching motion, keeping the paddle face directed at your target. Stay balanced with your weight forward on the balls of your feet, and focus on keeping the ball low while clearing the net. Mastering volleys will help you control the pace of the game, stay aggressive at the net, and put pressure on your opponents. 👇 Explore the official rulebook, player resources, and everything you need to start and grow your pickleball journey. 📘 Official Pickleball Rulebook https://usapickleball.org/rules/ 🎥 Pickleball Blog https://usapickleball.org/strategies/ 🎉 Join or Renew Your USA Pickleball Membership https://usapickleball.org/membership/ 📌 Don’t forget to Like, Comment, and Subscribe for more pickleball tips, drills, and ways to improve your game. #USAPickleball #PickleballDrills #PickleballTips #PickleballTraining #PickleballSkills #Volley #Pickleball Source: USA Pickleball Videos
